Thursday, January 28th - #2 - day 1

All is well...a bit of symptoms but all to be expected...drinking cold drinks makes my throat feel 'the sensation', and if I hold cold things too long I get a tingling sensation in my finger tips...weird feeling!

We called the insurance company again today...Sam has a doctors appointment on Monday (Feb. 2) and we needed to know if we'd have to pay for the office visit or have a co-pay...with 'in network' we would have a co-pay - with 'out of network' we would have to pay for an office visit and the insurance company 'might' pay 60% of that....Well, we wanted OUT of 'out of network' and back into 'in...'....we got it! I guess they reviewed the telephone conversations we had and they realized THEY made a mistake by misleading us with the dollar amount. Charlie was getting very agitated talking with them today but by the end of our conversation and knowing we could use our 'old - in network' cards...he got his color back in his face and seemed a bit more relaxed! Thank God we were able to get this back without going through this for an entire month. We will not be able to use Newton Memorial Hospital...since we are 'in network'...but that's okay with us...it was the dollar amount for all our doctors office visits that would have cost us a bundle! Chemo treatments cost us now - $25...if we went 'out of...' it would have cost over $2,000 per treatment if not more! But once we paid the $2,000 we would have been covered 100%....but if we just need 6 months of treatments - going twice a month...that would be $600....a lot less than going for one treatment! AND the worst part was that each of us had a $2,000 deductable! before the insurance company would pay! We'd have to pay for 'specialized doctor's office visits...no co-pay....which could be anywhere from $40 - $300 - just for an office visit!

Took my shower today...thanks for the suggestion of getting a hand held shower head! That worked out great! Much better than a sponge bath! It took me a bit longer than usual but at least I felt much better!

I was even able to help my Mom with her shower...the first time I had the pump I was afraid to move...but I did everything as usual...helped Mom shower and did the laundry. Charlie made eggplant rolatini...came out great!

I was also told to STOP taking my blood pressure med. It was getting on the 'low' side...we will keep an eye on it...as I do have my own monitor too. This is a good thing! Now I am not taking any other 'drugs' other than what my 'cocktail' is made up of.

Tomorrow I get my pump removed...it is so much easier not having to carry it around all day.
