Cocktail #8 done! Now this is a strange story....had blood work drawn on Monday. They ran it there at the center and also sent it out to the lab. The numbers were different! Especially the platelets! Here, they were 102...the lab stated 72!!!! Then they had to do it again today and it was up to 92! So, I was able to have ALL the meds. If my platelet number was still low I would not have been able to have the last med - the fol fox - the one that is in the pump (when I heard that, I thought that would be nice...but it didn't work out that way, which was good -- I had the entire cocktail).
It's so interesting or would be...if I was actually able to know what all the numbers mean. I know the white cells, red cells, and a few other things...but there are 3 and 4 pages of 'stuff'! Some numbers are down and low - some are a little higher...don't know if that's good or bad...but I guess it's all good being that I didn't have to miss anything yet.
Chemo brain has set in....I thought I had to have a total of 12 treatments. Charlie heard different...so I asked the nurse today. She said they will continue....as much as I can handle....until all the tumors are gone! That means instead of the cocktails ending in June...I may have to continue longer....but with my last CT scan and the largest tumors shrinking almost 50% - maybe this next CT scan (scheduled for Wednesday the 28th) will show them gone (I'm praying for that one) or almost gone - praying for that answer too!
Didn't get an answer regarding the root canal surgery. My oncologist didn't get a call from the oral surgeon yet. I asked that maybe we can hold out until my treatments are finished - thinking it would be in June; cocktail #12....but now...who knows!! I have the pimple on my gum so the infection is draining and I have no pain. Have to be careful with the blood work numbers.
I'm tired and it's only 10:30....but I know it's from going to bed really late last night and getting up a little earlier today and not being able to catch a cat nap while taking my cocktail....too many people coming in and out of my suite. Charlie was able to catch a nap...as he was snoring!!! Other than that, I feel fine...my hands are a little shaky. I was writing something and Sam was here in the office and I showed her my penmanship....she laughed and said it looked like a prescription with the doctors writing....bad!!! hard to read!!!!!
I was able to cook dinner. I have the tingling in my fingers so I was always close enough to the sink to run the warm water on my hands which helps alot. With this weather being so nice and fishing season...Charlie is always out and doesn't come in until the sun is either almost or down and dark! Too late to eat. As it is, we eat dinner at 7 pm....so, I am cooking again.
