Everything is fine....
Had cocktail #17 yesterday (Wednesday)...everything went well. Charlie came with me...he was suppose to work with one of his friends (outdoor house painting) but with the weather - it was cancelled...
Spoke with oncologist, Dr. May, and said not to worry about the hiatial hernia...it's up in the stomach area and I have no symptoms of indigestion or anything like that...don't worry?!!! She is more concerned about the tingling/numbness in my appendages! We're going to keep a close eye on this...but it may continue as long as 6 months (the amount of time I was on the Oxaliplatin - one of the side effects).
I'm taking this new drug that I mentioned before - can't think of the name right now but some of the side effects are fatigue, dizziness and weight gain....Well, I take the pill - 2 - at night, before I go to bed - which works out well. Then when I shower and shampoo my hair, I close my eyes so I don't get shampoo in them and then I feel like I'm going to fall...so, of course, I don't keep my eyes closed all that long...but I HATE the weight gain...I'm up to 129 and that is getting too high for me! I want to be 125! Of course, I have an amazing appetite - almost feels like I have a tap worm....always hungry...I eat well but then I eat alot of junk food too. I can now eat ice cream (I don't get that tingling feeling in my mouth)..so I'm making up for the several months that I haven't eaten it! And cookies and chocolate too...all that processed sugar! I do eat my veggies and fruit...so, I feel the need to 'enjoy' what I eat...so maybe the weight gain isn't from the meds...maybe it's just what I eat!!! Hey, at 60 years old...you can't change an old horse!
I have to go for 3 nupagin shots - again...Saturday, Monday and Tuesday...then I have the rest of the week off...I don't have to drive to Sparta!
I think I might have mentioned the shot thing. I called Blue Cross/Blue Shield and they said that if I go to the regular doctor (they agreed to do this)...it would cost me $60 to pick up the shot at the pharmacy then$15 for the office visit. If I do this myself, I can have it mailed to me at a cost of $40...but I'd have to get either my niece or one of my nurse friends to give me the shot...which according to BC/BS they say it has to be given by a licensed physician....and right now I pay $25 and I'm done. Now there is the cost factor of gasoline and waiting...but I may as well go for the lest expensive way....all the way to Sparta! and hour drive - back and forth. I did make all my appointments for 8 am or close to that...so Charlie can be here with Fay....Paul maybe working and Sam will be at her college classes. I'll just have to get someone to help my mom with her shower on my 'cocktail' days.
