Tuesday, January 4th - #26 - day 6

Happy New Year! We had a few couples here for New Years Eve...it was a very enjoyable evening! Served appetizers rather than dinner which worked out realllly well! We brought in the new year with horn blowers and herring! Lentil soup too! The dogs were outside then Jersey ran downstairs to hide...she really doesn't like 'loud' noises!

What a busy week I had last week! Monday we had the snow storm...we were lucky - we only got about 5 or 6 inches here...but I was suppose to go for blood work - I called the office to see if they were open and got their voice mail...so I assumed they were closed. I figured having to go for my #26 cocktail on Tuesday rather than my usual Wednesday (they were closed on Friday due to the holiday) that I could get a CBC and then my cocktail...but I was wrong! When I went in on Tuesday (thinking I was getting #26) I HAD to go to another facility to get the blood work drawn. That is the protocol for the clinical study - needing a full blood work before the chemo treatment...putting my cocktail day back to my regular schedule of Wednesday. I carry the pump for 46 hours meaning I had to be disconnected on Friday. My oncologist and her nurse came in that day...not just for me but for several others needing their shots too. Well, the only really good thing that worked out was that I didn't get my nupagin shot (usually get two) this time....now to see what my white blood count numbers are when I go next Monday. Hopefully they are still high enough that maybe I can miss a few nupagin shots. My number - before the chemo - was 5....and less than 4 being low...so my numbers were okay before the treatment...this gets confusing because they say that the numbers go down after the cocktail. I'm just praying that I don't get sick....and alot of people want their hair cut this week. I just have to make sure I wash my hands really good!

It's such a nice feeling not having to run to Sparta this week at all! I do have to take my Mom to the cardiologist on Friday - she hasn't been there for a year and she's suppose to go every three months for a check up...it's so hard getting her in and out of the car and any place in general. Her back bothers her so much and it's so stressful for her. Of course the weather forecast for Friday doesn't look too good....hmmmm....guess we'll just have to see! Charlie will come with us as I bring her wheelchair and it's just a little too heavy for me to get it in and out of the trunk.
