Tuesday, July 12th - colonoscopy

Well, the prep was interesting as ever! I did find drinking it through a straw worked well. I forgot that while sipping it you tend to hold your breath. I also had a few sips of apple juice - to get that salty taste out of my mouth. I did cheat - I didn't finish the last 8 ounces....I just couldn't handle it. I went through a whole roll of toilet paper! Scott 1000 sheets!!!! My butt was sore at one point...I had a hard time just sitting there!!!

Got to Hackettstown Hospital for my procedure and I remember being wheeled in and being hooked up to all these wires...oxygen, IV, blood pressure, EKG...I was all tangled up! Then the nurse said she was going to give me the med to relax and the antestesia - I just remember Dr. Kahlam putting the needle into the IV (in my hand) and them taking my eyeglasses off...then waking up in the recovery room! Like they say - it's the best sleep ever!!! Had some excess gas in my abdomen which was a little uncomfortable but I managed to eliminate it...just curling my legs (getting into the fetal position) and even standing up and stretching helped.

I'm so happy that nothing was there!!! No polyps or anything else!!! This is really the first FULL colonoscopy I had. The other two in 2009 was when he found the blockage and the other was when I went to have the colon resection! I thought they'd find one or two...maybe all the chemo knocked them off!

I will call on Wednesday (tomorrow) to schedule my pre-admission and surgery - which will take place in NYC.

I'll be back with more info tomorrow! Thanks again for all your prayers! YOU can't tell me that prayers don't work!!! I'm living proof! Not to second guess God, but maybe he felt with all the volunteer work I've done and people knowing me...I was the one to get people back on track and praying.....
