Went to the city today! THANK YOU ALL - FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!! I am usually a nervous wreck but I was as calm as could be!
We left the house at 6 am - (Paul, Charlie and I) - drove to Dover train station....first time on the train....soooo many stops! It took over 80 minutes...those seats are not too comfortable either. Then the subway - another first! We were like sardines!!!! Where do you look? Armpits? eyes? faces? you couldn't see down on the floor - as there wasn't any room!!! The subway station where we got off was only feet away from the building. We arrived at 9:10 - appointment was for 9:15.
Spoke with Dr. Peter Allen...what a nice doctor!!! He said that looking at the MRI and all the scans - that the 'new' tumor doesn't look suspicious...he feels it's just benign....but there is 'one' active tumor and one other that are both close to the surface. He feels that only 20% of the liver should be resection....Completely different from the first surgeon...wanting to take 50%!!! BUT, now he would like me to go for a colonoscopy and then go back to NY for a MRI and all other pre-admission tests. The colonoscopy can be done here in NJ....I think Newton Hospital is 'again' taking our insurance as Morristown Memorial took over...so the colonoscopy can be done there and all the pre-admission tests would be done in NY then schedule the surgery. I don't think I want to take the subway and train back home after the surgery...I'm sure Charlie will drive in a park his car there. Dr. Allen said that there would be a 4 or 5 day hospital stay then once I'm home I'd be able to go up and down steps and shower....sounds perfect!
The surgeon said there is no rush...not good to tell me that...but, okay now you can have a chuckle...but because my two soap operas are going off the air - I may as well have this done WHILE they are still on...who cares about talk shows...you can only take so many of them...soaps - on the other hand - make you feel like your life isn't all that bad...they ALL have their own problems!
Once I schedule the colonoscopy...anyone that needs a hair cut should get it done BEFORE I go for the surgery - which would give me at least a week or two from colonoscopy to the 'pre-admission' then surgery. I will give you the dates and you can call me and anybody else that you may know that doesn't have a computer - please let them know.
I think I covered all that....Believe in Miracles! Without YOUR help of prayers - a miracle will take place - with YOU knowing YOU helped!!!! Thank you again and again!
