Saturday, November 5th - still week #1

With having NO electric...made me so depressed this week! Having one (1) symptom from my new cocktail was 'diarrhea'....well, what a week to have this!!! Without being able to flush the toilets as much as needed was beyond belief!!! Thank goodness I was smart enough to fill two of my three bathtubs with water - which enabled us to use for the toilets.

I have been feeling fine - other than having to race for the bathroom - which seemed to happen about 1/2 hour after eating - anything - 1/2 bagel or even a sandwich.

I have to talk to Dr. May about this....it all began on Saturday - 1st episode was right before the power went out and continues....maybe she can give me a 'lighter' dosage of this cocktail. I go on Monday for my 2nd treatment of my 1st cycle...then I also go on Wednesday then next time I only have to go once (on a Monday) for the cocktail and then on Wednesday to have my pump disconnect and flushed. Breaking up this into two days works pretty good...at least it did for the first time.

If you want to continue reading on...I'm just venting....about this horrid week with no power...
---listening to the TV weather reports saying trees may come down due to them still having leaves....I decided to play Girl Scout and fill my bathtubs with water...just in case.....That was the best thing I could have done! and will continue doing!
--we do have a whole house generator - which we purchased during hurricane Irene...but haven't had the time to get an electrician here to hook it up to the well and furnace.
--Charlie was home about 3 hours after the power went out on Saturday (the 29th of Oct.), so he dug out the generator, after pulling up the garage door and started it up. With, I think, more than a dozen extension cords he was able to hook up the blower on the wood burning stove, a few lights, the refrigerator and freezer. He was home on Monday and hooked up Direct TV...I was able to watch my soaps...missed my Sunday night show. 'Desperate Housewives'....
--we turned off the generator every night - no use running it...we were upstairs, (slightly) freezing and under a dozen blankets in bed. Sitting during the day - even with the wood stove on, my nose was cold! I sat under a blanket and my ears were even cold so I would put my scarf over them! What a sight!!!
----I am so tired of 'sponge' bathing! We heated some water on top of the wood stove to wash our hair and we even baked potatoes and peppers and onions! The house smelled real good! We were still lucky enough to have a few aluminum pans left as well as paper plates, cups, and cutlery. My sink was full of 'real' stuff until I realized that I had all these sterno trays that we ended up heating the water to wash some things...but that wasn't until the end of the week.

Today I am catching up with the laundry. I was able to vacuum the house with the generator running so it wasn't as bad as it originally was during Irene (we had a much smaller generator then).

I guess I'm done venting....I did email a letter of 'disgust' to our governor - my main question or concern was -- why are we one of the LAST towns to get our power serviced? for the second time?!!! Does he not know how it is with NO water?! I know there were alot of families that didn't have heat....but I'm not sure which is worse!!! Well, I vented...to you and to our governor!

We are still lucky that we do have a roof over our heads and no damage to our home - just our spirits.
